Melting of two-dimensional electron crystals in narrow channels

Two-dimensional electron systems in narrow channels are studied by the molecular dynamics method at various relations between the channel width and the averaged inter-electron distance. The spatial electron configurations formed at low temperatures, depending on the channel width are found and features of the structural transition are analyzed. Temperature influence on the transition is studied. Temperatures corresponding to spatial order destruction of the electron systems are found depending on the channel width, including the structural transitions regions.
