The influence of a film thickness on a modulated spin structure in terbium manganite

Abstract

The influence of the thickness of ferroelectromagnet TbMnO3 film on a noncollinear spin structure in one harmonic approximation of the Hinzburg–Landay method has been analyzed. The results of the phenomenological analysis are in a qualistic agreement with the experimental observations: a decrease of the modulation vector under the temperature fall in the films and its increase under decrease of the thickness of the film at the constant temperature. The influence of the thickness of film on the lines of the phase transitions the first and the second orders were analyzed. The tendency of the decrease of the volume of noncollinear spin phase under the decrease of film thickness has been shown.
