Adsorption of heliun gas near Tl at low pressures

Abstract

Cryosorption of helium isotopes (4He and 3He) on thin argon cryolayers is studied experimentally in the temperature range 4.2√2 K at low pressures. It is shown that the sorption isostere 4He is anomalous at temperatures close to the temperature of the phase transition in the bulk of 4He, Tl. An abrupt pressure change is observed for a 4He film thickness approximately equal to two monolayers. The experiments on cryosorption of 3He gas on an argon layer with a 3He film thickness of approximately one monolayer display monotonous changes in the pressure within the whole temperature range.
