Critical states in thin flat type-II superconductors in perpendicular or inclined magnetic field

Abstract

The critical state theory of the vortex-lattice in type-II superconductors is considered without the assumption that the circulating currents are perpendicular to the local magnetic fields in the sample. Using this theory, several critical state problems are solved for thin flat superconductors in an external magnetic field perpendicular to their plane: a theory of vortex-shaking effect is developed for rectangular superconducting platelets, the critical states are studied in superconducting samples with anisotropic flux-line pinning and in those with the order-disorder transition in their vortex lattice. Besides, the critical states in a long superconducting strip in an inclined magnetic field are investigated.
