Abstract

We discuss nontrivial properties of the vortex matter in hard superconductors caused by a specific nonlinearity of the material equations. The collapse of the transport current and static magnetization of superconductors under the action of an external orthogonal ac magnetic field, appearance of jumps in a temporal dependence of the electric field at a sample surface due to the nonlinear interaction of electromagnetic waves with different frequencies, a specific stepwise penetration of the electromagnetic field into anisotropic superconductors are considered in this review. Nonlocal effects resulting in essential modification of the nonlinear phenomena are also a subject of the review. We paid a special attention to a unique phenomenon of the macroturbulent instability in hard superconductors, related to an anisotropic flow of the Abrikosov vortices. The majority of results reviewed are based on original experimental and theoretical studies performed with the participation of the authors.
