Negative ions at helium mixtures interface

The properties of electron bubbles localized at the interface between 3He and 3He–4He mixture by polarization attraction force have been studied in a lowtemperature region. The equilibrium state of such objects is characterized by a binding energy of 6.5 K and an oscillating spectrum of the first excitations with a frequency 0.6·1010 s–1. Shifting electric field E = 100 V/cm at T = 0.2 K leads to decay of the binding bubble state with lifetime τ ≈ 1 s. The experimental study of bubble electron states may be useful for testing liquid helium mixtures interface.
