Peculiarities of behavior of Kramers doublet components intensities in NdFe3(BO3)4 in the transverse Zeeman geometry

Nontrivial dependence of polarizations of Kramers doublet 15971–15978 cm−1 absorption lines on external magnetic field was found in the range of optical transition 4I9/22H11/2 of Nd3+ ion in easy-plane antiferromagnet NdFe3(BO3)4 in transversal Zeeman effect geometry. Values of transversal g factor and effective field of exchange with Fe3+ magnetic subsystem were determined for the excited state of Nd3+ from the field dependence of the doublet splitting. Semiempirical equation was proposed for description of the field dependences of intensities of absorption lines polarized components corresponding to the Kramers doublet 15971–15978 cm−1. Excluding scaling coefficients, the equation contains as parameters only the values of exchange fields for ground and excited states that were determined independently.
